Disability Leadership Program List

The Disability Leadership Program will assist you to gain the skills and knowledge to progress your leadership ambitions. The program offers a suite of leadership training options that you can choose from to meet your specific needs.

 

Leadership Forum and Networking: Civic Participation

A Forum for community leaders and people with and without disability, to share ideas, networks and pathways to civic participation for people with disability.  

For: Getting Started, Experienced and Established Leaders
Time commitment: 1 day
When: October 2017

 

Governance Skills Workshop

A workshop to learn about being a committee or board member and the skills you need for a board role.  

For: Getting Started and Experienced Leaders
Time commitment: 1 day
When: November 2017

 

Mentoring program

Meet regularly with your mentor, an experienced leader, as you work to set leadership goals and ways to achieve them.  

For: Getting Started, Experienced and Established Leaders
Time commitment: 2 hour induction workshop, 1 hour monthly 1:1 mentor meetings 
When: The mentoring program runs between October 2017 and June 2018

 

Role Shadowing program

Spend time with a more experienced leader to see how they do their community or professional work and learn more about leadership.

For: Getting Started, Experienced and Established leaders
Time commitment: 2 hour induction workshop, 2-4 week role shadow placement with host organisation
When:  The role shadowing program runs between October 2017 and May 2018

 

Igniting Leadership

Explore the essentials of leadership; gain the insights, critical skills, strategies and confidence to move from team member to effective leader for improved personal, team and organisational performance.  

For: Getting Started and Experienced leaders
Time commitment: 5 days (over one month), with approx. 1 hour of pre-reading for each day
When: April 2018 and June 2018

 

Finding Your Leadership Edge 

Learn tools and techniques on how to lead teams through challenging changes and difficult leadership situations occurring in your workplace, or more widely in your industry.

For: Experienced and Established Leaders
Time commitment: 2 days (over one month), with approx. 1 hour of pre-reading for each day
When: October 2017, April 2018 and June 2018

 

Developing Self, Leading Others 

Develop your leadership skills and create a development plan to achieve your leadership goals and lead your team effectively to remain agile, flexible, progressive and relevant.

For: Experienced and Established Leaders in leadership roles
Time commitment: 3 days (over one month), with approx. 1 hour of pre-reading for each day
When: October 2017 and April 2018

 

Women’s Leadership

For women in leadership roles to further develop the skills and confidence to achieve your leadership potential and build an ongoing peer network.

Selection for this program will include an interview with the designated selection panel.

For: Established leaders
Time commitment: 3 consecutive days (residential program approx. 60 mins from Melbourne) with approx. 1 hour of pre-reading for each day
When: June 2018.

 

Williamson 

This year-long, flagship program is a unique leadership development experience. Leaders from the business, government and community sectors are exposed to new experiences and new ways of thinking and build an enduring peer group which continues through Leadership Victoria’s alumni and beyond.

Selection for this program will include an interview with the designated selection panel.
A small program fee applies. Successful applicants may not be notified until October 2017

For: Established leaders
Time commitment: 10 months (2 days per month and four evenings, including an opening and closing residential and two overnight field trips) with 1 hour pre-reading/pre-work for each program day.  Approx. 20 hours of project work in addition to the program days.
When: February to November 2018

 

Disability Leadership Institute Premium Membership  

Twelve month access to a national community of practice, peer networking groups, a range of other free training and development opportunities, and a personal listing on the National Register of Disability Leaders.

For:  All participants in the Disability Leadership Program
Time commitment: 1 year

How do I apply?

To apply for the program, complete and submit the Online Application Form and attach your resume and a letter of support from your referee.

Applications can also be completed and submitted in other formats, including via email to info@leadershipvictoria.org  or sent by post to Leadership Victoria, Level 2, Old Treasury Building, Spring Street, Melbourne, Victoria, 3000.

Applications close at 5pm (AEST) on 13 September 2017. Please note that late submissions will not be accepted.
