Board Membership

Why are you seeking a Board/Committee membership?
Carrington Health seeks to appoint an additional independent non-executive director. This is a newly-created role to bring knowledge, experience and expertise in business entrepreneurship to the Board. To strengthen and grow our organisation to meet our primary goals, we are seeking to develop new commercially-sustainable business opportunities that leverage our core strengths. We are seeking to leverage growing need and demand from public and third party payers and referrers for multi-disciplinary care and services that align with community health capabilities. This strategic business re-design has prompted the expansion of Board skills needed to assist with planning future growth.

Selection Criteria
The person appointed will bring extra capabilities to the Board in consulting, strategy and business development. This could include some or all of: identifying business opportunities, understanding market conditions and constraints, assessing the implications of new businesses on buildings and locations and other physical assets (eg fleet), IT systems, products and services. To be considered for the position you must have previous board and governance experience. You will also have one or more of the following : • Knowledge, experience and expertise in consulting, strategy and/or business development. • Practical experience in setting up successful and profitable new social enterprises or other new businesses in sectors that are compatible with our values. • Experience in public / private partnerships and / or working with government in new and innovative ways • The ability to strategically strengthen and grow our organisation to meet our primary goals • Prior experience in the Health sector

Describe your internal appointment process
- Review of applications will take place between GM People & Culture, CEO and existing Board members - Those who are short listed will then be contacted for interviews - Only short listed applicants will receive feedback if unsuccessful

Meeting frequency/dates
The role requires attending approximately 10 board meetings and serving on at least one board committee per year. In addition, it will be necessary to take part in occasional Board strategy workshops (not more than two a year). Please note that this is a voluntary position. Meetings take place on Tuesday evenings.
