Solve Disability Solutions, formerly TADVIC, is a not-profit organisation dedicated to serving the needs of people with disability.

We are seeking expressions of interest from people with an accounting/finance background who would like to join our board of governance. Our treasurer has announced his intention not to renominate at the November 2016 AGM after 7 years of service to our organisation.

Solve Disability Solutions' vision is for a world where there are No Limits to Participation. Our mission is to design, make or modify equipment for people with a disability whose needs cannot be met commercially.

We are a volunteer-based organisation dedicated to people with disabilities. We achieve our mission through the:
- Design and construction of equipment otherwise commercially unavailable,
- Modification of commercially available equipment to suit clients' special needs, and
- Provision of specialised technical advice to clients and their carers.

Solve Disability Solutions' core competency in meeting the specialist life-style equipment needs for people with disability is its capacity to manage the application of technical and engineering design and production skills, from a broad base of suitably qualified volunteers, in concert with occupational therapist and other health professional advice. Solve Disability Solutions has a large metropolitan branch and 10 regional branches, which provide such solutions to clients throughout Victoria.

Solve Disability Solutions is seeking a board treasurer with an accounting / finance background. The board meets 9-10 times a year and there are 10 finance subcommittee meetings per year.

Why are you seeking a Board/Committee membership?
Our board treasurer has announced his intention not to renominate at the November 2016 AGM after 7 years of service to our organisation.

Selection Criteria
- Holds professional qualifications in accountancy; - Demonstrate an understanding of current financial and tax regulations as they pertain to the not-for-profit sector in Australia; - Is is desirable but not mandatory that they have past experience as a Board/Committee Treasurer; - Demonstrate a commitment to the objectives and values of Solve Disability Solutions

Describe your internal appointment process
1. Potential/new board member to complete a data sheet to obtain the following information: a. Biographical information and reference b. Why they want to join this board c. What they hope to bring to the board d. What they would like to get from their board membership e. Any questions they may have 2. Meet with Chair / board member and CEO 3. Identify if there are any potential conflicts of interest 4. Feedback to Board 5. Invite to a meeting 6. Board review and election Note: technical volunteers may have already completed some steps of this process when nominating for board selection.

Meeting frequency/dates
9-10 board meetings per year (5pm -6.30pm third Tuesday month Feb-Nov), 10 Finance Subcommitee meeting - timing arrangedby subcommittee
