Stroke Association of Victoria - 2 Board positions available if you have commercial business, accounting, fundraising, general management or legal experience

Stroke Associatin of Victoria's Mission is to provide every stroke survivor and carer access to the information and peer support services they need to re-engage with their community.


We provide Stroke Peer Support groups across Victoria. We are establishing Regional Stroke Support Centres for Post Stroke survivors to have access to on-going low cost Therapies and Group therapies, companionship, general information and support for the Stroke Survivor and their spouses/partners/families. We encourage them to aim to re-engage with the community, gain confidence and dignity. Recovery goes on for ever, in many different forms.

Background information
We require two (2) - Board Members to assist the Stroke Association of Victoria Inc to meet the future Strategy Plan for the Association's planned growth

Board Membership

Why are you seeking a Board/Committee membership?
We have two vacant positions to fill owning to two resignations, one due to illness the other owing to heavy work commitments.

Selection Criteria
Board Committee of Management duties: In particular we are seeking people with broad business experience, if possible people who have worked in larger organizations and understand the complexities of multiple departments, projects and demands on resources. We require specific skills in Commercial Business, general management, accounting, fundraising strategy or legal would be desirable, training and education are not overly relevant

Describe your internal appointment process
Vacant positions to be filled will be immediate - May Committee meeting would be the earliest. We are expecting a commitment of at least 2 years if possible but this is negotiable. Lodge a CV to the Association via email admin@strokeassociation.com.au and I will speak via phone to answer any questions to arrange a meeting in the Office with two Board members. Expression of interest open until 21st April 2016. Decision will be prompt, with a planned May commencement.

Meeting frequency/dates
Meetings held 1st Tuesday mornings 10.15am to 12.30pm. The Association is proposing to introduce Bi-monthly meetings to provide time for Board members to chair a sub-committee meeting inbetween. New Technology is being introduced to make attending meetings more accessible.
