TreeProject - seeking three board members with skills in communications, business development and events and activities

TreeProject is a non-profit community organization dedicated to providing opportunities for the community to participate in projects to re vegetate the Victorian landscape with indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses. We recruit and train volunteers in towns and cities to grow and plant native seedlings for rural Victorian landholders.

Founded in 1989 TreeProject is managed by a small Committee of volunteers of various backgrounds who are seeking additional members with specific skills and talents to compliment and add to the existing team.

We recruit and train volunteers in towns and cities to grow and plant native seedlings for rural Victorian landholders.

Founded in 1989 TreeProject is managed by a small Committee of volunteers of various backgrounds who are seeking additional members with specific skills and talents to compliment and add to the existing team.

TreeProject currently has one permanent part time staff member with the title Project Manager who has oversight of volunteers for administration and project activities; we have two casual contract staff one for bookkeeping data entry and one for Nursery duties.

The current committee has five members. Full committee membership is nine.

Why are you seeking a Board/Committee membership?
To support and further develop our activities TreeProject is looking for volunteer Management Committee members with skills and experience to act as leaders in Communications, Development and Events. New recruits would join an existing Committee of experienced environmentally conscious people.

Selection Criteria
To support and further develop our activities TreeProject is looking for volunteer Management Committee members with skills and experience to act as leaders in Communications, Development and Events. New recruits would join an existing Committee of experienced environmentally conscious people. Other Criteria would be specific to the role to be undertaken.

Describe your internal appointment process
Applicants would receive an introduction to TreeProject at the TreeProject Office Level 3, 247 Flinders Lane Melbourne. This introduction would be conducted by the TreeProject Secretary Stephen Watson at a date and time that is mutually acceptable. Providing both parties are happy to continue Applicants would be asked to attend an interview conducted by the TreeProject President or deputised Committee member, Project Manager and possibly other Committee members. This interview to be conducted at a time and place to suit all parties. Following a successful completion of the first two steps and checking of any references provided the applicants would be invited to attend the next TreeProject Committee meeting where they would be formally accepted.

Meeting frequency/dates
TreeProject Management Committee normally meets on the second Thursday of each month; any changes to the day or date are agreed in advance. The proposed term of appointment to the committee would be two years; appointments would be confirmed at the AGM held in November each year.

TreeProject Management Committee normally meets at the TreeProject Office Level 3, 247 Flinders Lane Melbourne from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
