Leadership for Complex Times – the Leadership Victoria Approach
24/06/2024How do you become more creative, as a leader?
26/09/2024The 2024 NAIDOC Week theme of ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud’ invites all Australians to “stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced”, and recognises that “through our collective efforts, we can forge a future where the stories, traditions, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are cherished and celebrated, enriching the fabric of the nation with the oldest living culture in the world”.
Leadership Victoria is proud that many amazing First Nations leaders have participated in our programs over the years. They are doing important, vital work in their communities - leaders like Karen Milward, Deb Walsh, Adrian Appo, Helen Kennedy, Troy Austin, Laura Thompson, Anthony Cavanagh, Jacqui Watkins, Latarnie M., Kylie Belling, Stephen Korp, Matthew E., Joe Murfet MBA, Leigh Saunders, and more.
One of our recent Williamson Fellows Joe Murfet MBA (WCLP ’23) has a NAIDOC Week message:
“NAIDOC is about celebrating our achievements individually and as a whole. It’s a chance to get back in community, yarn up, laugh big and just be deadly.
“When I think about this year’s NAIDOC theme, ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’, it symbolises the important responsibility we have to protect and celebrate First Nations people across Victoria and the Nation – and continue the work of our ancestors for better outcomes for our mob… because if not us, then who? And if not for them, then who?
“I would like to bring attention to truth telling and urge my fellow leaders in the Leadership Victoria community to learn more about the work of the Yoorrook Justice Commission, and also buy from First Peoples businesses, this NAIDOC Week and beyond.
“Happy NAIDOC week – I look forward to coming together to honour and celebrate the culture and achievements of First Nations people”.
Leadership Victoria is striving to amplify the long-silenced voices, and cherish and celebrate the stories, traditions and achievements, of First Nations people, in particular through our flagship Williamson Community Leadership Program.
